Business History Working Group

The Business History Working Group (BHWG) is a forum for discussion and cooperation on matters related to the impact of businesses within society and on the course of history.

The Business History Working Group (BHWG) is a forum for discussion and cooperation on matters related to the impact of businesses within society and on the course of history. We conceive of business history in a broad sense and welcome scholars examining the structures and frameworks that businesses operate within, management and administrative history, family-centred histories, the varied roles women have occupied in business, state-business relations and the intellectual history of different business entities.

Our broad approach lends itself to interdisciplinary research and we warmly invite scholars in the other disciplines at the EUI, be they researchers of corporate law, economists focusing on business and political scientists examining corporations, to share their insight.

The main goal with this group is to provide a platform for researchers to exchange ideas, introduce new methodological approaches and perspectives to their study and provide constructive feedback. We also aim to host a series of talks from both internal and external academics and archivists to give us insights into the latest debates, methodologies and source materials.

Come join us in our (business) venture!
