Description

The seminar aims to provide the 1st year researchers with an overview of approaches to legal research and introduce them to the main ‘elements’ of research.
The seminar combines interactive lectures by one or two professors of the LAW department (morning session) and activities in the afternoon session (e.g. presentations, group work) facilitated by senior researchers at the EUI and MWF (when available).
Professors prepare an interactive lecture (around 1 hour) about a selected approach to law that they apply along with a short selection of readings or relevant literature.
In the afternoon activities, the researchers would have the possibility to discuss the steps in writing a thesis / conducting research –  the research question, the role of theory, the feasible research design, the importance of the analysis, etc.
