DescriptionThis workshop, jointly organised by the Max Weber Programme and the Alcide De Gasperi Research Centre, will explore how economic development influenced the twin trajectories of European integration and decolonization in the postwar period. It focuses on North Africa as a prism for understanding the relationship between strategies to create a supranational structure in Europe and attempts to socially and economically develop North Africa. The workshop will ultimately shed light on the processes of decolonization and European integration as well as their role in shaping the subsequent Euro-Mediterranean partnership. 24 February 2016.
