Subsequent to his studies, he worked at the Human Rights Center (Potsdam), received his doctorate from the University of Hamburg, did his legal traineeship at the Berlin Court of Appeal and completed his master's degree at New York University. Dr. Johann Justus Vasel, LL.M. (NYU) is a research associate at the University of Hamburg, Associate Editor of the European Journal of International Law (EJIL). His wide research interests span from (legal) philosophy and constitutional law to European and public international law. At the EUI he intends to complete several minor research projects in constitutional, European and international law related to diverse topics. His core research focus will be on “libertarian paternalism" and eudaemonistic governance in a comparative perspective.
