Lola Wilhelm is a modern international historian specialising in the history of multinational enterprises and international organisations. Her research interests also include the history of imperialism, medicine, science and technology, food, and development aid. Lola’s PhD, which she completed in 2019 at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, focused on Nestlé’s involvement in agriculture, public health, and humanitarian programmes in Europe and Africa from the 1900s to the 1970s. Her new project at the EUI focuses on the participation of firms in international environmental science and politics.
Lola has taught disciplinary and interdisciplinary graduate seminars on international history research methods, the history of humanitarianism, and of agriculture.
