Wojciech Gagatek is a Part-time Professor at the European University Institute’s Alcide De Gasperi Research Centre where he works on the research project on “The EEP Group’s contribution and impact on key episodes in the development of the European integration process and of the directly elected European Parliament”. He holds an MA in Political Sciences and MA in Law (from the University of Warsaw), PhD in Political and Social Sciences (from the European University Institute in Florence), habilitation in Political Sciences from the University of Warsaw. Currently he works at the Institute of Political Science, Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw.
His multidisciplinary education has strongly affected his research profile. In the past, he has published extensively on party politics at the European level, in particular about the role of the EPP, led and participated in international research projects, and carried out wide-ranging field research in EU institutions, such as archival research, legislative analysis and elite interviews: The European People's Party and the Party of European Socialists: government and opposition? (European View 8(2)/2009), The 2009 Elections to the European Parliament: Country Reports (European University Institute: Florence 2010), The Treaty of Lisbon, the European Parliament Elections and European political parties: A New Playing Field for 2014?, (Yearbook of Polish European Studies 14/2011). Furthermore, he co-authored two reports commissioned by the European Parliament, and used to be an expert of the Polish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
