Historical Archives Library

Our highly specialised collection contains approximately 20.000 volumes on the History of European Integration from the early 1940’s, external relations of the EC member states and the Cold War. Our reference section holds an important collection of finding aids in the form of guides and catalogues to international archives and repositories. There are also periodicals from professional archival associations and books on archival science.

Of special interest are:

  • The personal library donated by Enzo Enrique Agnoletti.
  • A collection of publications of European interest such as reports, periodicals, books, cd roms and microfilms.
  • An interesting collection of thesis.
  • The series of European Parliament’s debates, documents produced during sittings and Committee reports as well as the Official Journal of the European Communities from 1952, both on paper and on microfiche.

Users may consult the Library Catalogue via Public Access PCs. Books associated with the HAEU archival fonds can be consulted here.

The Historical Archives Library does not grant borrowing privileges and/or interlibrary loan service.

DORIE (Documentation and Research on European Institutional Issues)

Following an agreement between the Secretariat-General of the European Commission and the EUI, part of the DORIE collection (totalling 170.000 documents) has been deposited at the HAEU and is in the process of being catalogued since mid-2010. DORIE contains documents or document extracts such as legal acts, minutes of meetings, articles and press releases, speeches by European leaders, internal Commission working documents and notes that go back to the Communities' beginnings on a variety of issues of Community interest. These documents have been digitised for storage purposes and are partially available on the DORIE Database.
