What shall I do if the book I want is listed as 'on shelf', but I can't find it?
Answer:

When a book is missing from the shelf, place a hold on the book. Library staff will look for it for 5 working days and will let you know if they found it. If still we cannot find it, you will receive an email to inform you that may submit an InterLibrary loan request. After one more week, the book will be listed as missing and the librarians will consider purchasing a replacement copy.
