School of Transnational Governance

#FlorenceLive explores post-corona world

The EUI School of Transnational Governance's (STG) new webcast series explores the impact of the Covid19 pandemic from a transnational perspective.

On Monday, the STG kicked off its new #FlorenceLive webcast series of conversations in an effort to understand the far-reaching consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each Monday, the STG gathers  academics and high-level policy makers to exchange perspectives and ideas on the issue.

The successful start was made by Anne Marie Slaughter (CEO New America), Kalypso Nicolaidis (Prof. STG, University of Oxford), Ivan Krastev (Professor, IWM) and Alexander Stubb (STG Director), who examined the impact of COVID-19 on democracy in a one-hour conversation.

In the coming weeks, more prominent scholars and policy makers will meet virtually in a series of conversations and interviews to discuss the political, economic and social implications of the pandemic. The speakers’ list includes well-known names such as Mo Ibrahim (Mo Ibrahim Foundation), Marietje Schaake (Director of Policy, Stanford University's Cyber Policy Center) and Jutta Urpilainen (Commissioner of international partnerships at the European Commission 2019-2024). Also in the pipeline are a number of one-on-one interviews between European leaders and STG Director Alexander Stubb.

All events will be broadcasted live on the EUI's Facebook channel and soon also on the STG website (tbc). The videos are freely accessible and require no registration or Facebook account. Users are invited to engage with the speakers and to post their comments and questions in the Facebook live feed. More than 4000 people join at least part of the first live conversation on Monday 18 May.
