EUI President Renaud Dehousse awarded the Fiorino d'argento at the Florence Ambassador Award 2018

The President of the EUI, Renaud Dehousse, has been awarded the Fiorino d’argento by the City of Florence, during the “Florence Ambassador Award 2018”, event promoted by the Assessorato Sviluppo Economico Turismo e Marketing Territoriale,  in collaboration with Firenze Convention Bureau and Firenze Fiera Congress and Exhibition Center.
In the ceremony held on the 10th of October at Florence’s Palazzo Vecchio, President Dehousse was recognised for his efforts in promoting the city of Florence through the annual EUI conference ‘The State of The Union’.
The Fiorino d’Argento is awarded to professionals who have distinguished themselves for their commitment in bringing Florence to the world stage, through international events hosted in the city and promotion of Florence abroad. Recipients are referred to as “ambassadors of Florence’’.

President Dehousse received his award in the Salone dei Cinquecento alongside other notable professionals. Among the awardees were Cristiano Chiarot, the superintendent of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino theatre; Arturo Galansino, the director general of Florence’s Palazzo Strozzi; Raffaello Napoleone, the managing director of the Pitti Immagine, which organises fashion events throughout Italy; and Gianpaolo Donzelli, the president of the University Hospital Meyer. Massimo Gramigni and Claudio Bertini of the live events company P.R.G were also honoured with the medal, along with Alessandro Bellucci, the managing director of Le Nozze di Figaro and the organiser of the festival Firenze Rocks.
Upon receiving his award, the President emphasised the role of the EUI in promoting Florence throughout Europe: “The European University Institute, which has been in Florence for over 40 years, has created and organised events promoting Florence, such as The State of The Union, since 2011. These events aim to bring Europe to Florence through a high-level reflection on the state of our European Union, and to make the city one of the integral sites of debate on the future of Europe.”
