Learning Languages & Skills at the EUI: Introduction to the CALL September 2021

CALL Presentation -Friday 3 September 10.30-12.00 video conference*

We will describe the various ways the CALL supports you, your research and your general desire for learning throughout your years here at the EUI. Teachers of all the main languages taught at the EUI (English, Italian, French, German, and Spanish) will also speak briefly.

Placement tests (French, German, Spanish) will be held straight afterwards. You will also be able to ask questions about each individual language, including Italian and English.

* Details to join the video conference will be shared with you by Academic Service at the end of August.

September Language & Skills Courses: 6-29 September 2021

In September the EUI CALL offers first-year researchers, fellows and their partners:

1. semi-intensive pre-sessional English academic literacies courses 
2. introductory courses in Italian language and culture

1^st year researchers who have been exempted from English and/or Italian courses can also attend the September courses in French, German, and Spanish if compatible with their academic program.

Beginners’ courses in French, German, and Spanish start in October. 

Placement Tests for Language Courses

• ENGLISH, ITALIAN: If you have any questions regarding English or Italian, contact the CALL Assistant.
• FRENCH, GERMAN, SPANISH: If you wish to follow a French, German or Spanish language course you must take an EUI placement test. Only absolute beginners don’t have to sit a placement test.

When can I take a placement test? 

EUI placement tests are held on Friday 3 September at 12:00 p.m. All tests will be held online. You'll get instructions at the end of the CALL Presentation.(If you are interested in booking a test please contact CALL Assistant. )

Join the CALL Presentation on Zoom at 10:30. Straight after the presentation, the teachers will be waiting to run the placement tests and answer any further questions you might have.
