Italian September A1-A2

ItalianCoursesThe A1-A2 courses are addressed to Spanish and Portuguese speakers or those who were assigned to the A1-A2 level after the placement test.

How this course works


The course includes work on the following

  • basic structures of Italian grammar: verbs (present and past tense), nouns and adjectives, articles, time adverbs, main prepositions (time and place)
  • insights into Italian life and culture
  • living in Florence: places, markets, museums, parks and gardens, etc.

Activities in class include

  • controlled grammatical exercises
  • small groupwork
  • pairwork
  • role play
  • readings
  • peer correction
  • individual writing
Course materials are communicated by the Italian Unit.

What you will learn


By the end of the course, students will be able 

  • to use the language of daily routines and interact in simple communicative situations and routine tasks (to introduce themselves, to talk about their interests, preferences, habits, the reasons why they are in Italy etc.)
  • to talk about various aspects of their country (food, architecture, lifestyles, arts, sport, etc.)
  • to understand  texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language
  • to participate in conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life
  • to write simple corrected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest /to write personal letters

 

This description refers to the general content of the A1-A2 level and the teaching methodologies. The specific syllabus for each course covers part of this content according to the number of hours and the needs of the participants.

 

The Italian Unit offers a series of A1-A2 courses for different target groups. If you are not sure for which course to register please contact the Italian Unit.

First year researchers have been assigned to a specific course.

EUI language courses are free for EUI PhD and LL.M. researchers, but most other EUI members have to pay a nominal fee. To check course fees click on total hours.
