This group examines the role, efficiency and impact of national parliaments in the European integration process and beyond the geographical area of Europe, focusing on a transnational level. 

Issues addressed:

  • Why are the National Parliaments important for the continuation and progress of the European integration process (i.e. institutional, political, economic, social)?
  • What are the benefits of the engagement of National Parliaments in the EU decision- and policy-making process?
  • What are the challenges for the involvement of National Parliaments in the EU decision- and policy-making process?
  • Which are the current developments concerning the participation of National Parliaments in the formation of the EU architecture?
