Reading Contemporary Classics in Social and Political Sciences
This seminar is the first of its kind to be held at the EUI under the heading of ‘academic literacy’. The goal of the class is to encourage and broaden participants’ academic literacy by reading a range of contemporary classics in political and social sciences; stimulate a thorough engagement with the texts; and setting the texts in relation to other literature in the field. For the class eleven SPS Professors have suggested different influential texts for their own work and beyond that should be known to researchers beyond a cursory appreciation. We have compiled a comprehensive and versatile list of key readings to be discussed in class meetings. For each meeting discussions will be guided by a different SPS professor who suggested the respective book and who is closely familiar with the text.
