Alterglobalization movements, such as the Zapatistas and the Via Campesina, resist the massive processes of exclusion which accompany the globalization of capitalism, appealing to the motto, 'Another world is possible!' Would this be a world in which global legal orders could include without excluding? No, as evidenced, amongst others, by a global regime of human rights law and the global commons. Every legal order, global or otherwise, has an a-legal outside that it can neither neutralize nor domesticate. But then: what sense to make of an authoritative politics of boundaries that eschews both universalism and relativism?

Everyone is welcome to attend. The texts to be discussed are available on the Seminar Material webpage.
Please note that the idea is to engage in a discussion with Prof. Lindahl on the basis of his texts.
