Executive Symposium on Road Safety

Dates:
  • Mon 22 Jan 2018 08.00 - 17.00
Add to Calendar 2018-01-22 8:00 2018-01-22 17:00 Europe/Paris Executive Symposium on Road Safety

70 people still die on European roads every single day. After impressive decreases in the number of fatalities over the past decade, we have started to see stagnating figures. In addition, trends like automation, the sharing economy and an aging population profoundly change the way we get around. In the Valletta Declaration on Road Safety of March 2017, EU Ministers for Transport have given new momentum to road safety policy at EU and national level, and the European Commission is now preparing a strategic EU framework to guide our joint work on road safety for the period 2020-2030. This new framework should be adopted in spring 2018. To make sure that the European Commission formulates the framework so that it can have the biggest possible impact and to translate the commitments of Valletta into a concrete 'To Do' list, the Commission is consulting extensively with all stakeholders. As part of this process, this Executive Symposium on 22 January 2018 will bring together around 25 representatives of industry, public authorities, research institutes and society. This Symposium in by invitation only.
