We welcome Josep Borrell, President of the European Parliament (2004-2007), for the next installment of the ‘Leaders Beyond the State’ series, in which former presidents of the European institutions are invited to the EUI to record their experiences as leaders in transnational government. The public interviews will create a forum in which academics, policy-makers, journalists and members of the public can engage with the leaders who have shaped the European Union to date.

The public interview will take place in Sala Europa, Villa Schifanoia and will be live-streamed.

The public interview will be moderated by Tony Barber (Europe Editor of the Financial Times). The interviewers are Andi Shehu (Researcher, Department of History and Civilization), Hanna Kleider (Max Weber Fellow, Department of Political and Social Sciences), Alessandro D'Alfonso (EU Fellow, Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies) and Maria José Schmidt-Kessen (Researcher at the Department of Law). There will also be the opportunity for the audience to ask questions.

The event is open to all and will be followed by a drinks reception. Please register below or contact the STG for more information.
