The Migration Policy Centre organises in collaboration with the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) a policy event in Brussels focused on smuggling policy and research in light of the release of the Special Issue on Migrant Smuggling of the Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. The result of a coordinated effort between the Migration Policy Centre at the European University Institute and the School of Criminology and Justice Studies at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, this collection looks beyond the headlines to constitute the first contemporary effort to document the social lives of the men and women worldwide who rely on the facilitation of the journeys of irregularised migrants as a form of livelihood.
