We welcome José Manuel Barroso (President of the European Commission (2004-2014) for the next installment of the ‘Leaders Beyond the State’ series, in which former presidents of the European institutions are invited to the EUI to record their experiences as leaders in transnational government. The public interviews will create a forum in which academics, policy-makers, journalists and members of the public can engage with the leaders who have shaped the European Union to date.

The public interview will take place in Sala del Consiglio, Villa Salviati and will be live-streamed.

The public interview will be moderated by Florian Eder (Managing Editor, Expansion at POLITICO). The interviewers are Dr Mirjam Dagefoerde (Max Weber Fellow, Department of Political and Social Sciences), Dr. Silvia Sassano (Alcide De Gasperi Fellow, Department of History and Civilization), Anna Krisztiàn (Researcher, Department of Law), João Carlos Brogueira De Sousa (Research Associate, Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies). There will also be the opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
