One of the most widely held and least challenged assumptions in the history of the European project is that crises have been instrumental in propelling deeper political and economic integration. Why is the idea of "crisis as opportunity" so central to the narrative of EU history? What impact have crises really had on the EU's development? What were the policy implications of "crisis as opportunity" for the EU during the tumultuous decade since 2008?

The roundtable will take place at the EUI and the European Parliamentary Research Service in Brussels via video conferencing.
