This Executive Training Seminar offers concentrated, in-depth exposure to the evolution and major characteristics of modern terrorism, its actors, strategies and modus operandi, as well as an understanding of the challenges this phenomenon presents to decision-makers and security establishments.

An integral part of the Seminar is attendance of the annual EUI forum on “Terrorism and Security Governance” on June 21.

Both events constitute a unique opportunity to come into contact with the latest developments, as well as to meet with some of the most distinguished scholars
and practitioners in the field. This will be a unique platform to engage in challenging debates and to
consolidate a global professional network in the field of Counter-Terrorism.

Learning Objectives

- Politics and dynamics of terrorism and counter-terrorism.
- Structure and organisation of terrorist groups.
- Novel transnational challenges associated with terrorism and their implication for policy.
- The role of Europol in the international counter-terrorism landscape.
- Key challenges of the Foreign Fighters phenomenon.
- The current status of the Islamic State and the remaining challenges it poses.
- The dilemmas of leadership decapitation as counter-terrorism measure.

Who Should Attend?
The seminar is addressed to junior and mid-career professionals working in European Institutions,
International Organizations, and national authorities, as well as private sector professionals and junior researchers who wish to expand their knowledge and networking capital.

Fees: 1,300 € (10% reduction for early registrations, for applications received by 8 May 2019)

A discount of 25% will be applied to the charges for international European and national civil servants, as well as to members of the NGOs.

The fees cover the cost of the course as well as coffee and lunch breaks. Travel and hotel costs are not included in the fees.

The deadline for applications is 27 May 2019.

Limited scholarships and fee waivers will be available.
