Add to Calendar 2019-01-28 9:00 2019-01-29 17:00 Europe/Paris High Level Policy Dialogue: European Cyber Diplomacy Dialogue

The inaugural meeting of the European Cyber Diplomacy Dialogue (ECDD) will take place on 28-29 January 2019 at the European University Institute in Florence, as part of the European Cyber Diplomacy Initiative.

The primary objective of the ECDD is to support the efforts of the European Union and its member states in conducting strategic cyber engagements with other countries and stakeholders by providing a platform for regular exchanges between policymakers and scholars.

Due to the importance of engaging policymakers, researchers and scholars in such dialogues, with the aim of bridging existing knowledge gaps so as to make policies more evidence-based and research more policy-relevant, the Dialogue will bring together selected researchers and analysts (members of the European Cyber Diplomacy Network) and senior level government officials involved in the design and implementation of cyber diplomacy policies in their respective countries or institutions.

Consequently, the ECDD meetings aim to take stock of the existing scholarship on topics relevant for cyber-diplomacy, in particular on security, international relations, and most-relevant policy issues, and provide a testing ground for ideas and possible new policy approaches.

Attendance at the event is by invitation only and takes place under Chatham House rules.

The first day will conclude with an afternoon roundtable entitled "Towards a 'Cyber Union'? The EU's added value in managing complexity in cyberspace", which is an open event (please see link below to register).
