Dr. Anis Nacrour is a French diplomat who served as Acting Head of the EU Delegation to Syria until his retirement in 2017. He holds a PHD in Political Science from the Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne university and a MA in Arab Civilization, culture and language. He has held senior diplomatic posts in in the United States, the United Kingdom, Algeria, Qatar, Bahrain, Israel and Yemen. He was appointed political and security sector reform adviser to the Quartet Representative for the Middle-East Peace Process in Jerusalem (2007-2010) as well as in the British Foreign and Commonwealth Service (1996-97). In 2011, he was seconded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the newly established European external action service (EEAS) and posted in Damascus, where he was appointed Head of Delegation from 2013 to 2016.
