The result and the follow-up to the European Parliament (EP) elections last May will accelerate significant changes in most EU policy fields. Therefore, the public debate around the new Policy Agenda of the period 2019-2024 that will affect the work of the EU institutions and National Parliaments sets important challenges for all involved stakeholders, to include policy-makers, academics, the private sector and civil society. One crucial aspect is the role of National Parliaments and their engagement in the formulation of the Policy Agenda for the period 2019-2024. The High-Level Policy Dialogue will discuss the essential features shaping the future of EU policy fields and will address the following questions:

- In view of the strategic agenda of the European Council, what are the policy priorities of National Parliaments for the period 2019-2024?
- How will National Parliaments be able to affect the policy formation at the EU level?
- How could inter-parliamentary cooperation across Europe be improved?

This High-Level Policy Dialogue organised by the STG will bring together academics, policy-makers, officials and members of civil society to discuss and exchange views concerning the new policy developments at the EU level. Participation is by invitation only and all deliberations will take place under Chatham House rule (no views or positions may be attributed publicly to any participants). Following the recommendations that come out of the discussion, a policy brief is planned to be published by the organisers as part of their public mission.
