In the framework of the HEC Department Colloquia

This paper ventures into the conceptual and empirical terrain of writing a global history of ‘international economic thinking’ for its own sake, and as a means of excavating alternative histories of globalization. The project, still in its infancy, is framed around a series of questions: What was international economic thinking? Where is the history of international economic thinking? Who were international economic thinkers? What difference did women make to international economic thinking? My aim in this seminar is to test-drive my preliminary answers to these questions, and how a global history of international economic thinking might contribute to the new history of capitalism.
