Adam Smith’s “The Wealth of Nations” is one of Economic History’s undisputed classics which has traditionally united the interest of economists, and historians of the modern and premodern times alike. Yet finding one’s way through the opaque terminology and meandering syntax of Smith’s 600-page volume can be challenging. The idea of our reading group is take-up this challenge together: By dividing the book into bite-sized pieces, pairing it with a contemporary reader’s guide, and extensively discussing its argumentation, we try to make this classic available to ourselves and anyone interested.
