SPS Departmental Seminar Series

Abstract: The spread of misinformation, manufactured content, false beliefs, and debunked claims on the internet is widely seen as a major threat to open societies. Understanding how and when falsehoods spread requires the ability to systematically vary the conditions under which this occurs. I report on several controlled experimental studies my co-authors and I conducted in which falsehoods are introduced into populations and allowed to spread.
