On December 5, as part of the EUI Junior Scholars Workshop 2019 - Challenges of Global Private Law series, the Max Weber Programme and the Law Department (The Legal and Political Theory Working Group) are organizing a meeting with Professor Daniel Markovits (Yale Law School) about his newly-published book "The Meritocracy Trap" (Penguin, 2019). The book asks highly relevant and timely questions about the role of universities and higher education in combatting or entrenching social inequalities and about the actual value of meritocracy as the social project. Professor Markovits will discuss his main argument, along with the underlying data. The presentation will be followed by an open discussion.
