High-Level Policy Dialogue on Donbas' Future

Dates:
  • Sat 08 Feb 2020 09.00 - 20.00
  Add to Calendar 2020-02-08 9:00 2020-02-08 20:00 Europe/Paris High-Level Policy Dialogue on Donbas' Future

Organised in the framework of the activities of the School of Transnational Governance’s Peace and Security Cluster, this High-Level Policy Dialogue (HLPD) aims to discuss and shape up consensus on the various aspects of a comprehensive reintegration offer for the population from the two sides of the contact line that cuts through the Donbas region of Ukraine. Its focus is on the analysis of the transformations in the region, drawing on the multi-sectoral approach, with a specific focus on the socioeconomic dimension and possible practical measures that can contribute to present and future peacebuilding efforts.

In the third instalment of the HLPDs on the Donbas, launched in 2018, the event will bring together, in an informal framework, policy influencers and decision-makers, Ukraine’s international partners, leading economists, experts, academics, practitioners and civil society representatives. This diversity brings depth to the discussion, allows the dissemination of shared views, and provides space for the peer review of the participants’ initiatives, including from their implementation angle. Stressing the long-term perspective, the HLPD aims to lay the groundwork for the region’s economic redevelopment, to harmonise the development strategies of the various actors, and to contribute to desirable policy adjustments.

All deliberations will take place under the Chatham House Rule (no views or positions may be attributed publicly to any participants), and, following the recommendations that come out of the discussion, the organisers will publish a policy brief as part of their public mission.
