Europe and Japan Under the Shadow of Sino-American Hegemonic Rivalries
This workshop deals with the on-going hegemonic rivalries between the US and China. The unilateral banning of Huawei and Sino-American trade wars is a reminder of the risks faced both by Japan and the European Union. The workshop will assess the rapidly changing situation and gauge the implications for the liberal international order in general, and Europe-Japan relations in particular. The timing is apt, following the EU and Japan’s completion of the ratification of their Strategic Partnership Agreement in 2019.
