Dates:
  • Tue 13 Oct 2020 14.00 - 15.10
Add to Calendar 2020-10-13 14:00 2020-10-13 15:10 Europe/Paris EU Trade Policy and Coherence with NTPOs

Every year, the European University Institute and the World Trade Institute come together to organise the World Trade Forum, with focus on a specific topic, the outcome of which is an edited collection with contributions from economists, political scientists and lawyers. This year’s edited collection will gather research outputs on the topics covered by the H2020 Respect project, analysing EU trade policy coherence with non-trade policy objectives (NTPOs). Three webinars will explore the research questions and preliminary findings, which will be further analysed in this year’s World Trade Forum book.

This second webinar will bring forward discussions on the extent to which European Union (EU) trade policies are aligned with the non-trade policy objectives of the EU. Joris Larik and Laura Puccio will begin by providing an account of the nexus between the EU's trade and security policies. This will be followed by Kamala Dawar, who will shed light on the competition and compliance issues related to official export credit support provided by EU Member States. The webinar will conclude with a collective discussion following the presentations.

Deadline for Applications: 11 October @ 5pm

Applicants will be notified on 12 October whether their application to participate was successful.
