High-Level Policy Dialogue - EUI Forum on Democratic Participation and the Future of Europe (second meeting)

Dates:
  • Thu 29 Oct 2020 16.00 - 18.00
Add to Calendar 2020-10-29 16:00 2020-10-29 18:00 Europe/Paris High-Level Policy Dialogue - EUI Forum on Democratic Participation and the Future of Europe (second meeting)

The Forum is an initiative of the European University Institute’s School of Transnational Governance (STG) to explore the range, promise and potential of citizen participation in Europe, by taking the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE) as a case in point. While the focus is the European Union and its neighbouring countries, the Union is but one instance of our global 21st century challenge to invent new forms of transnational democracy.

The 2nd meeting of the Forum will focus on the following issues:

Theme 1: ‘Organised’ and ‘unorganised’ civil society: what is the difference, and (in what

ways) does it matter?

Theme 2: How can participation and representation interact?

Theme 3: Should voting stay at the core of transnational European democracy and if so,

how?

Theme 4: Re-scaling participation: from the local to the transnational.

Participation in the event is by invitation only and all deliberations will take place under the Chatham House Rule (no views or positions may be attributed publicly to any participants)
