Anton Spisak, Senior Fellow at the Tony Blair Institute (TBI) for Global Change and former advisor to the UK's Brexit negotiating team, will lead a Q&A session on what the agreement means for improved relations and what the future holds.

The ‘Windsor Framework’ agreed in principle between the United Kingdom and the European Union on 27 February opened a new chapter in post Brexit relations between the UK and EU.

In this Q&A session, Anton Spisak, Senior Fellow at the Tony Blair Institute (TBI) for Global Change and a former adviser to the UK’s Brexit negotiating team, will give his perspective on what the deal means for improved relations and what comes next. The session will draw on TBI’s recent paper ‘Fixing Brexit: A new Agenda for a new Partnership’ and the Institute’s ongoing research on the impact of Brexit on trade flows and small business.

Anton Spisak is leading the Institute’s work on EU-UK relations and trade policy. He has published extensively on the UK’s withdrawal from the EU and its economic and political implications. Before joining the Institute, Anton was a senior policy adviser in the Cabinet Office and, more recently, in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, where he worked on the Brexit negotiations. Before that, he held roles at the Financial Times, where he worked as a leader writer, and at the Institute for Government and RAND Corporation. Anton regularly contributes to media, having written for the Financial Times, the Times, the Prospect, and various European outlets; he has also appeared on the BBC, Channel 4 and Euronews. He regularly gives evidence to the House of Commons and the House of Lords select committees, as well as to the European Parliament.

The EUI’s School of Transnational Governance organises this event in collaboration with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) in the context of the Institute’s visit to the School. By shaping the debate and offering expert advice, the TBI aims to help political leaders build open, inclusive and prosperous societies in an increasingly interconnected world.
