[Hybrid event - online and in presence] The Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom presents the results of the 2022 Media Pluralism Monitor, the yearly study that assesses the health of media pluralism in the EU27, Albania, Montenegro, the Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkey.

Besides being the flagship project of the Centre, the Media Pluralism Monitor is also a key source of information for the European Commission, which relies on the findings to draw up its yearly Rule of Law Report.

During the conference How to ensure media pluralism in the EU? the Monitor's findings will be presented and discussed by the research team, including the representatives from the country teams who contributed to the 2022 Media Pluralism Monitor. The researchers will present the project’s findings in four key areas: fundamental protection; market plurality; political independence and social inclusiveness. The research included the EU27, plus Albania, Montenegro, Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey.

Invited academics and policymakers will also contribute to the discussion.

The discussion will be enriched by a speech by Vera Jourová, Vice-President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency, and a presentation by Anna Herold, Head of Unit at the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology. Their talk will provide participants with expert insight into the work done by the European Commission to ensure media pluralism and media freedom in the EU.

The event will be delivered in a hybrid format: registered participants can attend in presence in Florence or online.
