To fulfill their promise of widespread structural innovation and change in a meaningful way, they require governance that maintains legitimacy both towards internal and external stakeholders. This conference will discuss the requirements for this type of governance from both a practitioner and academic perspective, drawing on three core concepts: legitimacy, polycentricity and constitutionalism. The first day is dedicated towards exploring these concepts in an academic context and applying core tenets to blockchain networks. The remaining two days are structured as a set of conversations between researchers and practitioners to explore the role of constitutionalism and polycentric governance in building and maintaining the legitimacy of both blockchain networks and the DAOs that operate on them. This event is by invitation only.
