EUI Law professor Giovanni Sartor published a study commissioned by the European Parliament’s Policy Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs, on the regulation of targeted and behavioural advertising in digital services.

In the study Regulating targeted and behavioural advertising in digital services: How to ensure users’ informed consent, commissioned by the European Parliament, EUI Law Professor Giovanni Sartor and co-authors Francesca Lagioia (Max Weber Fellow) and Federico Galli (University of Bologna), address the regulation of targeted and behavioural advertising in the context of digital services.

The authors present marketing methods and technologies deployed in behavioural and target advertising and analyse the EU law on consent to the processing of personal data, specifically in connection with advertising practices.
