The European University Institute has joined, through the Robert Schuman Centre, a partnership establishing the Global Governance Research Centre Consortium (GGRCC). an international network of peer research centres dedicated to advancing scholarship on global governance.
The EUI joins as a founding member alongside five other institutions: the Geneva Graduate Institute, through its Global Governance Centre; Université Laval, through its Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche en Gouvernance Mondiale; Stockholm University, through its Stockholm Centre on Global Governance; Princeton University, through its Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance; and the University of California San Diego, through its Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation.
Bringing together leading research centres, this network is committed to advancing scholarship and collaboration on global governance. It promotes cutting-edge research, fosters international collaboration, and supports knowledge exchange among academics, policymakers, and practitioners. Through comparative and interdisciplinary work, the Consortium aims to deepen understanding of global challenges and contribute to more effective, inclusive, and forward-looking governance frameworks, Europe, North America, and beyond.
The GGRCC provides a structured framework for cooperation among institutions that are already active in the global governance field, without replacing existing bilateral collaborations. Planned activities include joint intellectual outputs, conference panels and workshops, funded project applications, doctoral and post-doctoral mobility schemes, visiting fellowships, and shared repositories for data, publications, and job notices. Specific collaborative activities will be governed by individual agreements concluded between the relevant member institutions.
