Olivier Roy, project supervisor

RoyOlivier Roy  holds  the Joint Chair in Mediterranean Studies at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies and  the SPS department at the EUI.

His research areas include Political Islam, Middle East, Islam in the West and comparative religions. He is the author of Globalized Islam (Chicago University Press, 2004) and more recently Holy Ignorance (Seuil, 2008).

Olivier Roy has extensive experience in analyzing social and political developments in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as European policies towards the region.

 

Virginie Collombier, main researcher & project coordinator

CollombierShe has conducted research in North Africa and the Middle East since 2003, with a specific focus on Egypt. Her main research interest is in social and political change in post-Qaddhafi Libya, where she has been conducting regular fieldwork since late 2012. Prior to this, she has worked extensively on Egyptian politics and transformations within the regime before and after the revolution.
