Björn Bremer

Björn holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute and a doctoral researcher in the POLCON project. Previously he studied at the University of Oxford and the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University. Bremer is now a senior researcher at the MPI, Cologne.

His research lies at the intersection of politics and economics and he is particularly interested in the politics of fiscal policies and the welfare state. His PhD focuses on the fiscal policies of social democratic parties in Western Europe in response to the Great Recession.
