New Economics Books in the Library

New acquisitions in Economics and Statistical Theory are announced to all members of the Department in a Friday email Bulletin. Economists in the Max Weber Programme and the RSCAS also receive this notification. Scholars in other departments who would like to receive the e-Bulletin, should send a signup request to econlibrary@eui.eu.

Cover photocopies of all new Economics books are displayed on the departmental notice board each Friday. A list of recently purchased books is also available on the New Acquisitions page. A list of new e-Books is available at this link.

Suggesting Books for Acquisition

Economists are welcome to make suggestions for Library acquisitions in any language. Duplicates of heavily-used texts may also be suggested. TAs and Professors are requested to signal new requirements before the beginning of each term. Requests for transfers of extra copies from the Badia Library to the VSP Reference Library should be sent to econlibrary@eui.eu.

e-Books

The number of e-Books in Economics and Statistical Theory is steadily increasing. This includes all books published by the OECD since 1998, and a wide selection of Economics books from OUP's Oxford Scholarship Online. These are individually catalogued. Bibliographical & Citation Databases

EconLit (a component of WebSPIRS) is the most comprehensive bibliographical database of economics literature, compiled by the AEA since 1969. EconLit contains abstracts, indexing and chapter lists of edited works and monographs.

The Library maintains an extensive collection of Economics reference works, listed on this page.

The Social Sciences Citation Index (a component of ISI Web of Knowledge) facilitates the searching of cited references and – in many cases – access to abstracts. When using the Journals Citation Reports component it may be necessary to adjust the browser as follows: Tools > Internet Options > Privacy tab > Advanced > tick 'Override automatic cookie handling' and 'Always allow session cookies'.  Close browser and re-launch before using.

FirstSearch provides full bibliographical records of academic works and, in many cases, chapter lists of edited works.

Cadmus is the EUI publications' database, federated with DSpace. All Economists at the EUI – Professors, Researchers and Fellows – are requested to submit details of works published during their time at the EUI to the Cadmus database. This includes books, edited books, articles and working papers.  Where possible, full texts are included.

Since January 2010, details of EUI Economics output have been included in the Economists Online portal from the Nereus Economics network.

Google Scholar helps locate scholarly documents in PDF and HTML formats and is compatible with Cadmus. Bibliographical references are EndNote compatible.
