Philipp Chapkovskiy is a Ph.D researcher at the European University Institute (Florence). His Ph.D project is about trade-off between loyalty and competence in bureaucratic appointments. The supervisor of his Ph.D research is Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans- Peter Blossfeld. At the same time he is involved in a project of Alessandra Minello concerning gender segregation in different professions and its implication for newcomers to a labour market. He received BA in Economics in Ca'Foscari University, Venice and MA in Political Science in European University at St.Petersburg with a thesis "Social networks and administrative recruitment in Russia: The Case of the Federal Government 2000-2008”. His current research interests focus on bureaucratic appointment procedures, governance quality and gender segregation at workplace.
