EU Statistics from Eurostat
Official European Union statistical data can be downloaded from the Eurostat Dissemination Database . Files may be exported to Excel by (1) saving to hard disk with the suffix .tsv (2) unzipping and (3) saving the table as Text (*.txt). To download more than 10,000 cells register on the Eurostat site . Full instructions on bulk downloading are available on this Eurostat page . The bulk download manual is available at this link .
The Eurostat Yearbook
The Eurostat Yearbook ('Europe in Figures') gives major statistical indicators for the 27 member states of the European Union, other European countries and selected non-EU states.
European Central Bank statistics
The ECB Statistical Data Warehouse provides a range of Eurozone and broader international economic data. The ECB Inflation Dashboard provides regional inflation and harmonised indices of consumer prices. ECB Monthly Bulletins from 1999 to 2012 are available online . The monthly Financial Stability Review is available on this ECB publications page .
Principal European Economic Indicators
Short term economic and business cycle indicators are provided by Eurostat in the PEEI framework .
The Euro
The EUI Library also maintains a directory of Euro and Eurozone documentary resources , providing access to official and non-official information and analysis.
EU Trade statistics
The ComExt database provides statistics on merchandise trade among EU member states and with global partners. ComExt is based on harmonised data from the national statistical agencies of the 27 member states.
Statistics on Central and Eastern Europe
WIIW, the Wiener Institut für Internationale Wirtschaftsvergleiche provides macroeconomic, industrial and investment data on Central and Eastern Europe (EU and non-EU), a handbook of statistics, country profiles and transition indicators.
European Commission (DG ECFIN) Macroeconomic Data
AMECO is the annual macroeconomic database of the European Commission's Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN).
European Company-level data
The Amadeus database (Bureau van Dijk) provides financial and business information on 450,000 companies in 38 European countries, including standardised annual accounts, financial ratios, sectoral activities and ownership.
European Financial statistics
Datastream (Thomson Reuters) can be used to integrate European, official and non-official, statistical series with other international macroeconomic data sources. Datastream is a financial and macroeconomic resource, covering major instruments, company fundamentals, equities, fixed income securities and economic indicators for 177 countries and 60 markets worldwide.
Online Archive of EU Official Publications
The EU Publications Office provides an archive of official EEC/EU publications from 1950 onwards – including many annual statistical reports.
UN Economic Commission for Europe statistics
European Countries in Figures is published by the UN Economic Commission for Europe. Annual profiles of 56 European countries are included. The UNECE also issues 'Trends in Europe and North America' and a variety of related macroeconomic statistical data.
Eurobarometer Surveys
Eurobarometer surveys consist of approximately 1,000 face-to-face interviews per EU member state, covering social conditions, health, culture, the economy, citizenship, security, information technology, the environment, the Euro and European Union enlargement.
EUDO data on Democracy in Europe
The EUDO Data Centre provides access to variables on European public opinion, political elites and the media; political parties and representation; institutional change and reform, and citizenship.
European Social Survey
The European Social Survey – conducted by a consortium of six universities – covers social and public trust; political interest and participation; socio-political orientations; governance; media use; moral, political and social values; social exclusion; national, ethnic and religious allegiances; well-being, health and security, and; demographics and socio-economic topics.
ECRI - Lending to Households in Europe
The European Cridit Research Institute's 'Lending to Households in Europe' database covers household credit; consumer lending, housing and other loans in 38 countries.
European Values Study
The European Values Study is a large-scale, cross-national and longitudinal survey of basic attitudes, beliefs and human values, produced by the the University of Cologne and Tilburg University.
Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE)
The Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) is a cross-national panel database of micro data on health, socio-economic status and social and family networks of more than 45,000 individuals aged 50 and over. SHARE is coördinated by the Mannheim Research Institute for the Economics of Aging.
EU Labour Force Statistics
EU-LFS is a household sample survey conducted across the EU and three EFTA countries, providing quarterly results on labour participation. Data ranges from 1983, depending on member state accession and other availablity factors. Surveys are conducted by European national statistical agencies and collated by Eurostat.
EU Statistics on Income and Living Conditions
EU-SILC is a cross-sectional and longitudinal multi-dimensional micro data set on income, poverty, social exclusion and living conditions in the European Union. Surveys are conducted by European national statistical agencies and collated by Eurostat.
EUROMOD
EUROMOD is a tax and benefits' microsimulation model for the European Union, developed by the University of Essex Institute for Social & Economic Research, using underlying EU-SILC data from the EU member states compiled by Eurostat. The EUROMOD simulator facilitates research and comparable policy analysis of the effects of taxes and benefits on household incomes and work incentives, both for member states and the EU as a whole.
