The future of Palazzo Buontalenti envisions a cutting-edge, open, and inclusive international campus. Embedded within the city's broader urban regeneration plan, the Agenzia del Demanio's restoration holds significant urban value, physically and symbolically reconnecting Via San Gallo with Via Cavour. The upcoming restoration phases (Lots 1 and 2) will breathe new life into the internal courtyards and the historic core of the Casino Mediceo. This redevelopment will encompass a spacious conference hall, modern student and faculty residences, advanced teaching facilities, a library, and versatile co-working areas. The ultimate goal is to sustainably repurpose the complex and finally reopen to the Florentine public its historic spaces, green courtyards, and magnificent frescoed halls, which have remained inaccessible for far too long. In doing so, the project will forge a permanent bridge between the academic community and civil society.
