Workshop on Selection, Choice and Causal Interpretations

Date/Time:      Monday 19 May 2014 09:00 - 16:30

                        Tuesday 20 May 2014 09:00 - 16:30

Speaker:         Prof. Dr. Götz Rohwer (Ruhr-Universität Bochum)

Location:        Seminar Room 2, Badia Fiesolana

The workshop provides an introduction to functional models as a formal (statistical) framework for thinking about causal interpretations of social processes.

Special consideration is given to different kinds of selection problems. It will be shown that selection processes, if being part of social processes (in contrast to processes generating data about social processes), can be interpreted as belonging to causally interpretable mechanisms.
