Programme

The European University Institute (EUI) Library in partnership with Casalini Libri is delighted to host a library symposium to discuss the current state and future challenges of Italian and European academic libraries.

The symposium will be opened by Guido Badalamenti (University of Siena) and followed by speeches of Laura Ballestra (Director of LIUC Library and President of the Italian Library Association), Marc Martínez (Sciences Po) and Giannis Tsakonas (University of Patras) with the aim to foster a lively conversation with the audience.

Background

The date of this occasion was specifically chosen to facilitate a dialogue between Italian institutions and LIBER members participating in the LIBER Winter Event 2023, held at the EUI, Florence, on 23 and 24 November 2023.

The LIBER organisation will reserve a limited number of places at the LIBER Winter Event for Italian librarians belonging to non-associated institutions. This is an opportunity for Italian libraries that are not yet members of LIBER to learn more about LIBER and to network and engage with European research libraries.

The symposium (and the following two days for the LIBER Winter Event) will be a great opportunity to meet and exchange ideas among university library leaders.

Social event

After the symposium, all participants and accompanying persons are invited to a cocktail hosted in the Theatre of Fiesole, followed by a classical music concert. Please take a look at the event flyer (PDF) for more details.

Transport from Villa la Torrossa to the Theater of Fiesole will be provided by the organiser.
