Question:
BIKES (Stalls, shelters, work station, pumps)
Answer:

BIKE RACKS

1) Investments on new bike racks were made last year and are also foreseen for this year, but REFS has still to check how many more modules can be included in the 2018 budget. Shelters for bike stalls are a problem, due to infrastructural and safety constraints. REFS is waiting for a reply from some suppliers with a possible solution, which will be illustrated and evaluated during the next meeting.

Update of 15/5/2018: a site survey for the installation of sheltered stalls has already been carried out at the Badia, Villa Salviati, Villa Schifanoia and Villa la Fonte. The overall quotation amounts to approximately 30.000€, and it will be included in the request of additional funding for extra works planned for June 2018.

Update of 12/6/2018: still waiting to see if additional bike racks could be included in the extra funds available as of June 2018

Update of 1/10/2018: the availability of structural funds for this project on the 2018 budget will  only be discolsed by mid November. It is however decided by the REFS to implement the additional bike racks in any case by committing funds from the 2019 budget, so as to start new installations by the beginning of the year.

2) REPS ask to install proper bike racks on the way to the San Domenico Gate: the golden ones are a risk factor for causing accidents in the dark. The REFS guarantees they will replace these racks with the standard type

Update of 31/7/2018: bike racks have been replaced with standard ones.

3) REPS ask for a proper solution for parking bikes not all the way up when entering from Via Faentina.

Probably the best solution to tackle this issue is to wait until the completion of the parking area to have new bike racks installed there, as right after the gate there is no room for bikes (it is a problem for the shuttle bus to access the road). The solution to put a bike rack after the bridge proved to be not so effective.

Update of 10 January 2018: REPS ask to install some bike racks at the beginning of the new footpath to Villa Salviati.

BIKE PUMPS AND REPAIR STATION

1) Bike pumps: REFS already has a solution to be installed in all buildings, just waiting for the economic offer.

2) REPS ask about having a work station for bikes next to bike racks, although this is not a priority for the moment. REFS will try to provide something initially at the Badia, then they will evaluate further installations.

Update of 15/5/2018: a bike work station with a fixed pump has already been purchased by the REFS and will be installed at the Badia Fiesolana within 2 months (time needed for the completion of the order)

Update of 5/9/2018: the bike repair station has been installed in Badia P2 Car park and it is perfectly operational
