Question:
Mensa issues
Answer:

REPS have received numerous complaints about the quality and quantity of the food served at the Badia canteen.

REFS is in the process of launching the new tender for canteen and catering services, the chairman of the Mensa committee will be part of the evaluation commission. REFS remind that there is a dedicated address for suggestions and complaints (Restaurant Committee): REPS are invited to use it to communicate urgent issues.

Concerning the presumed difference of quantity between different canteens, REFS reply that portions are established in the contract, but canteen staff are different, so there might be variations. REFS regularly perform checks on the weight of food supplied across the Campus, and portions are almost always compliant (sometimes even more than agreed). The last official audit by an external campus was carried out in 2015: there is no point in conducting another Audit now, as the new tender is about to be launched. If someone feels that portions are too low, they are invited to notify it immediately so that REFS can verify.

KE says that for the new tender REFS will do their best to make Badia and Salviati comparable (same level), but much depends on the number of people eating, which in Salviati is very low compared with potential numbers.

Update of 10/9/2019: as of 2 September 2019 the new tender contract for the provision of canteen and catering services has entered into force (provider = Villa Viviani). All the main innovations foreseen by the contract are illustrated at this link.
