Question:
Who is eligible for a dependent child allowance?
Answer:

Administrative staff, full-time professors/assistant professors, retired staff, and under certain conditions part-time professors/assistant professors, research fellows, academic assistants, and academic/administrative associates may be entitled to the dependent child allowance.

This allowance is granted automatically for dependent children under the age of 18.

Children aged 18 to 26:

  • For children aged 18 to 26 who are in educational or vocational training the staff member concerned must file an application with supporting evidence (e.g. registration/enrolment certificate, proof of registration fee payment).
  • Children aged 18 to 26 who are in educational or vocational training may work part-time. In this case, staff may also be entitled to the education allowance if the gross salary/remuneration of the child’s part-time contract is less than 40% of the basic salary of an AST1/1 with the weighting of the country in which the work is carried out.
