Birth certificate

Once your child is born, please send a copy of birth certificate (obtained from the relevant Commune) to your contact in HR or HumanResourcesService@eui.eu.

Rights and family benefits

After childbirth your child will benefit from the sickness and accident insurance (JSIS) coverage.

You might also be entitled to family allowances, including:

• the birth or adoption grant
• the dependent child allowance
• the household allowance
• the pre-school allowance (education allowance A)

If your spouse or partner works or receives unemployment benefit, and is entitled to national family allowances, he/she is obliged to assert his/her claim vis-à-vis the competent authorities by submitting a request to his/her national fund for family allowances. These allowances are paid prior to our statutory allowances and will be deducted from them. See Allowances paid elsewhere.

If your spouse or partner also works for the EUI, he/she will also be entitled to leave in accordance with the EUI rules.
