Managing cookies on the EUI website

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device by websites that you visit.

They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site or to the owners of third party services used by the website that you're using.

They are used for several purposes, ranging from IT authentication, to the monitoring of the browsing sessions, up to the storage of specific information on user configurations in accessing a given server, and so on.

For example, they enable the website to remember some actions and preferences (such as login) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

Cookies are not programs and therefore cannot contain viruses or other malicious software.

They are purely a string of text and numbers.

Privacy and cookie policy

We take all reasonable care to prevent any unauthorised access to and use of your personal data. Our staff maintain a responsibility to keep your information confidential and will only use it to offer relevant services related to your enquiry.

We do not collect any personal detail which could directly identify you (e.g. name, surname, email address) from our cookies, we simply use the information to provide or promote our services to you.

Any detail of the services you have used or about which you have enquired, will not be passed to any third party organisation for marketing purposes and will not be used by us for any purpose other than the one which you have requested.

Our Cookies policy

By clicking on "accept", you consent to the use of cookies outlined below.

The acceptance is related to the browser/computer/device in use. Your choice will be recorded in one of our technical cookies, and it will last one year.

You can delete this, and all other cookies, any time, as described in this page.

We are not responsible for the use or collection of data by way of any cookie installed by third parties, which in some cases, can be profiling cookies.

The technology that we use to block third party services that might use cookies, is based on Javascript.
If you have activated any block or manipulation of the execution of Javascript code from your browser/computer/device, you might be not protected from the cookie block described above.

In this case, we recommend you to check and eventually block/delete cookies with the methods described in this page (here under), or with other tools.

More details on how to control and delete cookies are provided below.

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Technical cookies – These are cookies that are required for the operation of our site and are essential for the site to operate correctly. They enable you to log into secure areas of our site and maintain the state between pages. They contain basic personal data (e.g. name, surname, email), to which we have access.
We do not use this personal data for any other purpose than the navigation of the website and the use of the services provided with it.
We do not collect this data.
Cookies are also used to record if you have agreed (or not) to our use of cookies on this site, so that you are not asked the question every time you visit the site.
  • Analytical cookies –  They allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it.
This helps us to improve the way our site works, for example, by ensuring that users can find what they are looking for easily.
These cookies are installed by a third party service, called Google Analytics.
They might contain personal data, to which we do not have direct access.
The EUI can only use this data in the form of aggregated information (e.g. average age, percentage of visits from each country, browser used).
The information that we use through this service, is never related to any personal data.
We have anonymised the IP address, which is not accessible by Google Analytics before your explicit agreement.
  • Third party cookies – We also use cookies provided by Youtube, Google Maps and Wufoo (see more information in the next section in this page).
These cookies may track personal data.
Here under you can find a more detailed description of how do we use these services.
